Annie Get Your Gun!

Let’s go on with the show!

There is only one week left of rehearsals before we all head to Manchester where after a week of Tech and finessing, the brand new UK tour of Irving Berlin’s hit musical ANNIE GET YOUR GUN will welcome it’s first audience at the Opera House.

Ian Talbot (Director), Paul Farnsworth (Designer) and I worked together last year and so I jumped at the chance to work with them again. Paul Farnsworth & I had previously worked together back in 2009 on Michael Punter’s Ghost Play ‘Darker Shores‘ at the Hampstead Theatre, and he is always a joy to work with.

Annie Oakley was an uneducated woman with a keen eye for sharp shootin’. Her ability to shoot with incredible accuracy, over her shoulder using a mirror was unrivaled. The ‘Champeen’ Frank Butler had finally met his match.

For the new UK tour, Ian Talbot and ATG have assembled an incredible cast led by Emma Williams (as Annie Oakley), Jason Donavan (as Frank Butler), Norman Pace (as Buffalo Bill Cody) and Jonathan Wilkes (as Frank Butler at certain venues).

There are a host of special effects that I am involved in, but without wanting to give much away, I’ll hold back on the detail!

Before the sharp shootin’ begins, we are introduced to Tommy Keeler & Winnie Tate; the Knife Throwing duo. I am currently working with Yiftach Mizrahi (tommy Keeler) and Lorna Want (Winnie Tate) to ensure that both of them know exactly what they need to do to ensure this is safe!

As well as the deadly (and blindfolded I might add!) knife throwing, there are a lot of effects in this show… more about those as we go into Tech!*
